dead...super dead

Let's see...i have no idea when was the last time i typed a blog over here..mine is slowly growing..and here its slowly dying..never mind la...guess there is still time to post some up over here..

Well..i shall go back to the time 13th September 2009 around 5pm when Phie, Yenti and her mum and Mei Ling and Jo Leen came down to my house to bake cakes..Yes! Her mum joined us..I was kinda surprised at the beginning but was alright in the end..

It was fun. We didn't exactly bake a cake la..But we baked cookies and bread..

Phie, Yen and Yenti's mum came by.
Mei Ling arrived 1st and we all went to the Jusco in Metro Prima to buy ingredients... and then..head back to my home...

1st, we made bread..which was kinda simple...we just dumped everything in after measuring and mix...mix..and mix.....

and ViOLA!..a dough..placed a wet cloth over it and let it rise..

Then we proceed to cookies..chocolate chip cookies...it was a bit of a flop coz the choco chips were the wrong sized ones...a bit to the bigger-than-usual size..I have got a feeling that type is for cakes..i'll try that mixture someday with bread..

After i am done with raisin bread... =____=

so we did the cookie mixture..kill it my heating it in the oven..oh ya!...i forgot..Jo Leen joined us when we finished making the bread dough..XD

so we made cookies...

Phie and Yenti weigh the ingredients..Mei Ling helped read the recipe..hehe..and Jo Leen helped with the chopping of almonds..

(the last bit of the cookie mixture..)

and made it with some love..and what we got? a love cookie!

^_________^
(our outcome..cookie shaped with love...^-^)

Yeah, we didn't take any pictures coz we were too busy..XD

After that, i took them all out to makan. We went to KTZ for makan!..since we were all full edi (with bread..we baked the bread and Jo Leen's bread was the best..)

We ate dessert for dinner..Then i took them to the top of Desa ParkCity..the view there is lovely..But sadly, its gonna be privatised soon. Only people with bikes can go up there and sit for long..Anyhow, i can't show you guys the full scale view from up there, but if you ask philia, the view there is awesome..XD

(some pictures of how it is like on top)

(another picture)

(during the night)

OH YA!..and Susu has bought 3 nail polish..From Bloop de Paris..it was on sale RM 19.80 for 3..couldn't resist it so i bought.. Buy 2 free one..Is it cheaper there in Australia?
if it is, help me buy!..XD

Chawanmushi

What do you do when you’re hungry in the middle of the night and fortunately, you have access to a few eggs?

No you don’t fry them, cause it’s too oily it’s bad for health.

No you don’t boil them, cause it’s just too boring and it’s more breakfast-style.

No you don’t eat them raw … cause it’s just not the type of thing we do (maybe we should!)

So the brilliant housemate (who has been immersed in the Japanese culture for quite a while cause she is taking Japanese Language) came up with the amazing idea of cooking a Japanese dish … Chawanmushi.

Chawan_Mushi_in_Honolulu,_Hawaii

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chawanmushi

Having no idea on what ingredient is needed, her another housemate (yours truly) came up with some marvelous idea (eg the norm like mushroom and carrot zzz)… only to find that we’ve none of those left.

Yet, nothing beats 3 determined hungry stomach. One went on the quest to hunt for recipes online, one discards the online recipe cause we’ve no ingredients while the other one set to work with whatever we have in the fridge.

She came out with this wonderful idea of adding Boccocini Cheese into the beaten eggs and the other two nodded in agreement.

So the Chawanmushi is set to be cooked. It looks pretty normal and harmless … Boccocini cheese swimming around the beautifully beaten eggs … we believe it’ll turn out so well we can be dubbed the second Einstein *proud*

and the result

Yes. This is what we see when we removed the rice cooker’s cover.

One ugly piece of er … EGG.

OUR Chawanmushi. Yeah, scroll up to the beginning of the post and do the comparison … yeah, just do it …

=.=’’

This is what we see when we flip it over on the plate.

We gave it a new name: Chawanpudding. Oh yeah, we’re so Einstein *tak tau malu* wtf

DSC00499

At least the Boccocini Cheese is doing it’s job

T____T

Taste wise: Not bad … edible … it tasted exactly like … mild cheese and egg.

Yeah, our Chawanpudding TM

We’re so full right now.

The food trivia

While somebody's at it, I shall join in the fun and continue on with the "Randomness".

Despite being home, it does not feel homely for the dinner table was empty. The hungry me had too roll up my sleeves and cook for my grumbling stomach =(

Menu for the day: EGG -___-

First dish: Sunny side

IMG_2408Pretty kan! It’s not perfect but it’s pretty. PLUS, it’s waaaay better than “fried rice uncle’s” sunny side. It’s healthier + cheaper. Hohoho!

Second dish: Eggy tomato

IMG_2409 Ha! My motto of life is to live healthy -__- thus the healthy meal.

Decided to combine my meal like I've ordered "eggy tomato rice PLUS egg".

IMG_2412 To add on to the HEALTHINESS, rice “not white”.  What it is called again? Grain? Red rice? Gosh, my vocabulary has gone down to negative infinity.

IMG_2414 Hoo, look at the yolk. Me like! I know it looks super yucks but who asked you to judge an egg by it's look? STUPID.

Conclusion: My life is NOT pathetic either.

IMG_2406 My egg even looks classy. You know, the sauce-decoration thing high class restaurants use in their servings? The sauce to decorate the BIG plate with a SMALL meal? Mine has it.

I’m classy. I know.

*pukes* -__-

Ok, I shall bid Goodbye now.

Back to FINANCIAL-PLANNING-I DON’T-WANT-TO-SEE-YOU-NEXT-SEMESTER.IMG_2417

Oh, and I’m currently reading “My best friend’s girl” by Dorothy Koomson (so much for I-don’t-want-to-see-FP-next-sem x_x)IMG_2416

Yeah, I don’t know my priority.IMG_2418

Farewell!

Pre-Exam Syndrome 2

Since there are not much happenings around us, let us look back on our tensed-up-days, where we do weird stuff to keep ourselves sane.
Heard of 'Anything' & 'Whatever'?

don't mind the apple on it. I don't know why we put it there.
They're part of our daily lives.
Where to eat? Anything.
What to eat? Whatever.
Yeah, that's our slogan.

So we heard (loooong time ago) that some company came up with these drinks called 'Anything' and 'Whatever'. Being insane, we were ready to try on anything cheeky.

Anything Whatever

Thats us drinking them. I randomly selected the Rootbeer one while she (unfortunately) picked a Peach one (which is super sweeeeet).

and the craziness continues ...

... ...
pardon us. It was exam period.

Egg Onion

I. HAVE. NO. MOOD. TO STUDY.

!@#$%^

Anyways, I cooked onion-egg today. Yeah baybeh, eggs ... again.
I think egg is the BEST creation of God. Erm, maybe after cocoa powder, and milk.

They look so real hor.

I mean, looks like it's cooked by mama one hor. Haha, I'm so proud I managed to cook a proper eggy-onion. Cause usually what goes in the WOK under Nicole comes out black. =) This came out the way it should. Bravo!

PS: I've ran out of stock for chocolates. No chocolate bar, no chocolate cookies, no chocolate whatsoever. That explains my moodiness. And due to that, I've been sleeping THE WHOLE DAY. I planned not to sleep tonight. I plan to turn myself into a REAL OWL.

I need self-discipline. Wtf.

Cheese - Rich - Cake

I have dreamt (throughout these few days of STUDIES) of having a rich rich cheese cake with me when I'm studying so that I can have something SATISFYING to munch on. Chocolate does fall into this category but ... too much chocolate no cheese makes Nicole a dull girl. Besides, these chocolate are making me feel HOT. Literally, I can feel my body temperature shooting up by the day.

So I dreamt to have some cold cold rich rich cheesy cake instead, and MY DREAM CAME TRUE! Serious! I did not tell mummy anything, but yesterday night she came back with this cheese-stick-cake for me! Yay!Guess my DREAMS DO COME TRUE sometimes. Hmm ... maybe I should dream about something like getting STRAIGHT HD's for this sememster than hmm ... maybe I can get all HDs!
*note to self : Nicole, you have to dream on. Keep dreaming! Do dream! I support you!*

So yeah, here's my super rich until like so rich cheese cake. Too bad the portion is too small. I finished it in like 10 minutes (I've tried to slow down) and I'm yearning for more now.

Nah, a close-up shot. Seriously, can you SEE how rich the texture is? Like totally CHEESY and flourless.

Eggs ... again

This blog is getting egg-fied
cause none other citizens of crapkingdom blogs but me
and I'm getting egg-fied.

My house is equipped with nothing that I know how to cook of but the eggs
so I had to do something with them.

Introducing ...

Nicole's Cawamushi! (cawanmushi? cawamushi? whatever)

Its super simple to make.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
2 button mushroom
1 baby carrot

Toppings:
Soy sauce

Utensils:
Fork
Small metal bowl
Rice cooker
The rack that is used to heat things up (whatever izzit called ... usually people put in the wok to steam things)

Steps:
1. Whip eggs in small metal bowl.
2. Throw in sliced button mushroom.
3. Throw in sliced baby carrot.
4. Add water into rice cooker and throw in the rack and place the small metal bowl on it.
5. Switch on rice cooker and leave it till you see steam rushing out.
6. Switch off rice cooker and take out your Cawanmushi.
7. Pour on some Soy sauce.
8. Enjoy!

PS: The reason I use soy sauce cause I've totally forgotten to add in salt in the first place. I think you can add in some seasoning / spices as well. Add just anything that suits your taste.

I am FAT, so what?

Oh Gautama Oh Jesus Christ Oh Ya Allah,

Exam is around the corner, and all I can talk about is food, food and FOOD.

It's like the subject that I'll be examined is FOOD, not Management Accounting, not Finanacial Accounting, not Introduction to Law, not Finance and Investment but food, food and FOOD.

There's so many FOOD under this roof they made me wonder : "HOW NOT TO BE FAT?"

Blaarrdddyyy ...

Introducing the new arrivals:
duck-thigh rice.
One for me, one for my blaadddy bladder.

My parents ta-pau-ed (packed / bungkus) from don't know where, then they went off to don't know where to eat don't know what don't know who recommended. Yeah, call me Miss Don't Know.

So kesian hor? The kids eat packed-rice, and the parents eat don't know what -___-
Afterall, it's Miss Don't Know here who refused to go out with them. She excused herself by saying: "I want to study. Exam is near". Then she ended up don't-knowing at this don't know what blog.

If you don't already know, the above is called Bak Chang (Hokkien) or Ham Yuk Chong (Cantonese) or Zhong Zi (Mandarin) or for the sake of Englishmen, Glutinous Rice Dumplings.

It has been Triangle Zhong for me all the while, or if I bother to be be proper and speak proper language, I call it Ham Yuk Zhong. The name bak chang has not been known until recently cause the gang ie - Jojo and Ah Gong the Hokkiens and Audrey the Alien called it bak chang. Phi Phi called it ... erm, bek cheng? Haha! Ah Ma called it ... I don't know.

So yeah, why the story? Nothing.

Anyways, if you don't already see it, ANOTHER BATCH OF BAK CHANG found their way to my tiny inny minny bitchy house! Blaaarrdy ... How not to be FAT I asked you?! Baaaahhh

Also, this batch is claimed to be delicious. Maybe it's the same "maker" as the one I ate yesterday. So yeah, for the fellow-faraway-from-home-friends' sake, I'll be bringing one of these to Subang. On Tuesday, not Monday. Cause Monday I have Monday blues (lame).

Then there are French Fries made/cooked by my cousin sister. Don't know why. Maybe she is just too free when I'm too busy. Or she want to try out her hidden cooking skills. Or she thinks I'm not fat, just big-boned. Or maybe she intended to fry a French but found no French so she fried French Fries. Or maybe she is considering to be a franchisee of McDonalds. Or maybe she wants to work in McDonald. I don't know. Never bother to ask. Got food, eat la. Duh.

Then there are Chinese kuihs. Again I don't know what Chinese kuehs/kuihs is actually called in ENGLISH. I think I got the term weeks ago but my tinny inny bitchy mind just can't store it and thus it was wiped off before I can use it. Is anybody kind enough increase my English vocab?

See they are so colourful and so adorable! Haha, stewpid. There are purple, yellow, orange and green. And there's my favourite pink-coloured-pau. HOW NOT TO BE FAT?! @#$%^

Thank you papa mama for adding these to the house. -__-

That was not the LAST!

No! The bak chang I ate yesterday was not the LAST BAK CHANG available in my house! There are more! They were kept in the fridge the LAZY GIRL here was just too lazy to check it out!
And this morning, before the parents leave for PORT DICKSON, mummy said there are BAK CHANG in the rice cooker (that’s how the LAZY FAMILY heat up stuff. No wok involved, no gas involved, less danger).

this isn't the last either. yeah, I stuck some greens on it to make it look healthier. At least I can claim I ate vege today. No constipation then. Ewww

So yeah, that wasn’t the last bak chang either! Congratulations to the didn’t-get-the-chance-to-celebrate-BAK-CHANG-day-girls, now there are BAK CHANG from Ampang! *jumps of joy*

Strictly speaking, they aren’t bak chang from Ampang … they origin from Cheras, where my grandma stays. But then, grandma resided in Ampang like 10 years ago and she come to Ampang often enough to visit her LITTLE GRANDDAUGHTER here, so I guess there’s still the Ampang seed and thus I can say the bak chang is from Ampang. What’s the fuss? I don’t know, but I want to continue talking. My grandma was actually from Cheras, and then moved to Ampang, then to another part of Cheras. So the bak chang is actually Cheras – Ampang – Cheras. So yeah, the bak chang integrates Cherasness and Ampangness.

What the heck? I’m just too free. Pardon me.

PS: I’ll be bringing BAK CHANG on Tuesday! Tuesday! Cause Monday I have class and I highly doubt that I can wake up earlier to heat up the bak chang.

PPS: I think grandma’s BAK CHANG is a-bit-not-so-salty this year. The Bak Chang I ate yesterday was saltier, thus nicer. Hehe. Maybe grandma wants to make healthy Bak Chang. For a better life.

Bak ... chang / zhang

First and foremost, I would like to wish you HAPPY HOLIDAY
...
to MYSELF. =.=''. I've granted myself a holiday today, away from books, away from stress. Bravo. Good job! Thats for not going to Summer Splash yet not splashing myself on books...
On other note: Congratulations Phi and Jojo on your parties ALONE in your respective rooms. Too bad there aren't any weighing scale ... if there is, you'll freaked out you rather commit suicide, not from the burden of BOOKS, but from the burden of your BODY.

So since you guys have been eating away, I decided to grant myself an award as well, that is:RICE, glutinous rice with bak and zhang (I don't know Hokkien, so I don't really get the meaning of zhang)

A picture speaks gazillion words, so photos, fire away!

a naked bak zhang. I took off it's clothes.

the internal organs of bak chang (there is mushroom, egg yolk, dunno-wat-peas, walnut -i think and BAK, duh)

close-up shot of it's internal organs

Apologies to those who haven't been able to enjoy bak chang. Thousand of apologies without a hint of sincerity (blek). And this is the LAST bak chang available in my house cause my parents have been such gluttons they have finished the whole batch.

So yeah, no BAK CHANG from Ampang. Go get from Klang, after all, the Klang-Ah-Gong (as in grandfather) is obliged to bring US some. and also Kepong, cause the Kepong girl is called Ah-Ma (as in grandmother).

So dear Ah Gong and Ah Ma, BRING BAK CHANG! This is not a request, this is an ORDER!

Thank you Bye bye.

PS: Sorry if I have been rude. I am just too ME. Cheers =)

Imitation Instant Noodle

Know what Nicole does when she was reading BLOGGERS' blog then realize it's a TOTAL waste of time and she is supposed to be doing LAW ASSIGNMENT?

She went and cooked Shin Ra Men, infused with XiaXue's (go bang wall if you don't know who she is) style (partially la), ie adding Hua Tiao Jiu.

She added a titsy bit of erm, parsley? and erm ... dunno wat Chinese Herbs (the red thing ... I call it Ngan Jing Jing [in cantonese, not alien language] since young, cause mummy say its suppose to improve our eyesight ... so thats why I don't know what it's ACTUALLY called) just to make it a titsy bit healthy.

I think this is what she is going to eat throughout her life in Australia in the future =_=''

PS: It SMELLS great with the Hua Tiao Jiu! but taste wise, the chinese wine has totally been covered by the Korean Chilly.
